Solid Waste Disposal Information

The Town is dedicated to the protection of our renewal resources and environment.

The Town operates a Recycling Depot free of charge 24 hours per day/7 days a week, at 46 Avenue and 50 Street, to accommodate the collection of newsprint, cardboard, tin cans, clear glass, and #1, #2, #3, #4, & #5 plastics.  A blue box program is also provided in the community for a nominal fee by the Rising Sun Clubhouse.  Call 403.783.5810 for more information on the blue box program.

The Town's Waste Transfer Facility is located just outside the northeast corporate limits on 46 Street.  They accept solid waste, garbage, furniture, drywall, plastics, white goods (freezers and refrigerators), branches, wood, and tires, to name a few.  The Waste Transfer Facility also operates a compost program for residents to drop off compostable materials. The compost is later sold for a nominal fee.

In the Spring and Fall, the Town provides a Clean-Up week where the residents' compostable materials are picked up at no charge.  This program helps to promote recycling and minimize the impact of compostable materials on a landfill.  The Waste Transfer Facility operates Tuesday through Saturday, excluding Statutory Holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during November through March, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. April through October.  The phone number at the Waste Transfer Facility is 403.783.8328.
